Autonomous Driving & Sensing

Our Research Goals

Advanced Sensing Technology and Autonomous Driving Systems

As mobility continues to evolve, autonomous driving requires precise sensing of various environmental factors around the vehicle in all conditions. Our goal is to develop advanced sensor technology that accurately detects surrounding elements and an integrated autonomous driving system that processes data, including traffic signals and infrastructure.

Research Highlights

Image Recognition Technology

We are developing algorithms that enable vehicles to recognize the surrrounding environment such as other vehicles, pedestrians, roadways, and traffic signs—using camera-based learning systems. This research aims to achieve accident-free vehicle control.

Visualization Technology of Sensing (Radar & Ultrasonic Technology)

We are working to maximize the performance of onboard radar and 5G communication systems for autonomous driving. By utilizing large-scale anechoic and electromagnetic wave chambers, we analyze radio waves and ultrasonic propagation around vehicles using proprietary high-precision probes.

Set in the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway C1, accurately reproducing surrounding structures such as buildings and tunnels, and representing the sensor output in the driving state of an autonomous vehicle.

Sensor Fusion Technology

We are building an environment to integrate sensor data essential for autonomous driving control. By leveraging virtual sensor model-based development (MBD), we aim to establish optimal sensor installation requirements and fusion methodologies to maximize vehicle performance.
